Promoting Hispanic Participation in Major Construction Projects
On Wednesday, March 19, the Delaware Hispanic Chamber of Commerce had the privilege of attending the Minority Supplier Diversity event, an initiative organized by Drexel University and held at the Christiana Hilton in Newark, Delaware. This event, focused on promoting the inclusion of diverse businesses in the construction sector, offered valuable insights into more than $3.5 billion in projected opportunities over the next eleven years.
Our team attended on behalf of the Chamber, reaffirming our commitment to opening real pathways for growth among Hispanic entrepreneurs across the state. On this occasion, we were also proud to accompany two of our member businesses: [Business Name 1] and [Business Name 2], small business owners who exemplify the talent, resilience, and potential of our community.
Throughout the event, participants had the opportunity to learn firsthand about Drexel University’s upcoming development plans, as well as the processes and requirements needed to participate as vendors in their future infrastructure projects. It also served as a valuable networking platform, connecting attendees with industry leaders, general contractors, and institutional procurement officers.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce for the invitation and for making this valuable opportunity accessible to our members. Collaborations like this reflect the strength of diverse communities coming together with a shared goal: inclusive growth.
For our Chamber, participating in spaces like this is essential. They not only give visibility to our businesses but also foster strategic relationships that can lead to contracts, growth, and employment. Our continued involvement in these conversations strengthens the Hispanic community’s presence in sectors that have historically been difficult to access—such as large-scale construction.
We remain committed to ensuring that every Hispanic entrepreneur in Delaware has access to the tools, knowledge, and connections needed to compete and thrive.
